About the Campground
Parksville Recreation Area is a rural park in McCormick County, South Carolina on J. Strom Thurmond Lake. The park is located along South Carolina State Highway 28/221. Parksville Recreation Area is a wooded day-use area for boat launching with a courtesy dock, fishing, swimming, playground, ballfield and picnicking.
PROXIMITY: Approx. 45 min. to Augusta, GA
ENVIRONMENT: Located on the largest Corps of Engineer project east of the Mississippi River
WEATHER: hot, humid summers, mild, pleasant winters
ATTRIBUTES: 70,000 acre lake, 1,000 plus mi. of shoreline with excellent fishing and boating, easy access to major cities, approx. 45 min. to Augusta GA, Atlanta, GA approx. 2.5 hrs., Savannah, Ga, Charleston and Myrtle Beach, SC approx. 3-4 hrs.

Alerts and Important Information
Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance.
Park hours 8:00 a.m.- 8:30 p.m. Park open Apr 1st - September 30th
No alcoholic beverages, No pets allowed.
Nets & volleyballs/horseshoes are not provided
A separate fee for day use area ($4.00 day use fee)will be charged at the park
Shelter must be occupied before 2 p.m. or the reservation will be considered not fulfilled (no-show), a $20.00 service fee will be charged for no-shows. A $10.00 service fee will apply if reservations are changed or cancelled
Reservations are for the exclusive use of the shelter for the entire day.The beach area and other park amenities are available for the reserving group as well as to the general public.
Title 36, Rules and Regulations will be enforced.
Clear the shelter and immediate area of litter upon departure.
Visitors are encouraged to wear life jackets while boating. Swimmers are encouraged to utilize the designated swim areas and never swim alone.
There are NO discounts given for Golden Age Passports, Golden Access Passports and America The Beautiful Pass.
Think Water Safety! Visitors are encouraged to wear life jackets at all times while on or around the water. Swimmers should use designated swim areas and never swim alone.
Please make sure that you have your confirmation letter in hand for each and every reservation when checking into the recreation area.
