About the Campground

Platte River Campground is located in the southern district of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, in the lower peninsula of Michigan. Camping is available year-round at Platte River Campground. For arrivals from the Friday of Memorial Day weekend to October 1st, reservations can be made for approximately two-thirds of all individual campsites. Group campsites are open from early May to October 1st by reservation only. Loops 1, 2, and 3 have electrical hook-ups. Loop 1 is open year round, while the rest of the campground is open from early May until mid-October. Campers making reservations for electric campsites pay only the regular campsite fee at the time of reservation. The park collects the additional $5 per night per electric campsite when the visitor arrives at the campground. Alerts and Important Information Entrance pass for Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore required per vehicle, $10 park pass (1-7 days) or $20 annual pass. Electric Sites: There is a $5 per night fee for electricity that must be paid upon arrival. Electric hook-up is available on handicap group site upon request, for medical use only. No wheeled vehicles of any kind may be used on trails to walk-in or group sites, including coolers and strollers. Bicycles/wheeled devices, except wheelchairs, are not allowed on trails or sidewalks. Roller blades, skates, skateboards & scooters are prohibited. No fireworks, firearms, or weapons allowed.
