It is a rare treat, indeed, to come across water that both challenges the expert fly caster and accommodates the beginner. But, that is the way we found the Deschutes River. Some 250+ miles in length, it has something for everyone.
We discovered this upon booking a trip with Bob at River Bend Fly Fishing. Our adventure covered it all, from great scenery, to lots of hatching insects; from slippery rocks and hard fighting fish to shared “secrets” (read advice) and an awesome sunset!
I had the advantage of several years of casting over and fishing in big water, but my wife had some great karma going and, although she didn’t bring to hand as many as I did, she did have a couple of real monsters on.
Bob was so patient with us and gave us some really helpful hints, which made the entire day more fun.
Looking forward to the next time, for sure!
