About the Campground

In the heart of southern Illinois, the North Sandusky Campground on Rend Lake offers excellent opportunities to enjoy camping, fishing, swimming, boating, and watching wildlife. The 19,000 acres of water and 20,000 acres of public lands at Rend Lake provide the perfect setting for your outdoor activities. The Rend Lake Bike Trail offers opportunities for biking and hiking . North Sandusky Campground offers 118 campsites, all with electric hookups, and 15 with water and sewer hookups. The campground is perfect for Recreational Vehicles and tent camping. Other amenities include a dump station, hot showers, a boat ramp, and playgrounds. Golf, trap shooting, and sporting clays are available within minutes of the campground. Boat rentals are available at the Rend Lake Marina and Rend Lake Resort. Other activities include the Rend Lake Visitor Center, Ranger-led programs, educational programs, environmental education, Rend Lake Wildlife Refuge, picnic areas, and water sports. Hunting is a large attraction to Rend Lake with its many acres of huntable government property adjacent to the parks. Auto touring and "Watching Wildlife" viewing opportunities abound at the lake. Alerts and Important Information Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. This campground requires a 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends. The campground is open from March 18, 2010 through October 31, 2010 and sites range from $16-$22 per night. An attendant is on duty as posted at the entrance station and the campground telephone number is 618-625-6115. Campsite capacity is one RV and 3 tents; 4 tents are allowed if no RV is present. All campers with reserved campsites must register with the Gate Attendant at the entrance station on the day of arrival.
