About the Campground

Voyageurs National Park is a water-based park where you must park your car and take to the water to fully experience the lakes, islands,and shoreline of the park. Today, motorboats, houseboats, canoes and kayaks are all used here. The Rainy Lake boat-in group campsite is located in the west end of the Brule Narrows on Rainy Lake. This site is wheelchair-accessible.

Alerts and Important Information Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Rainy Lake Group is a boat-in only campsite. The site is 9 miles from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center by boat. Use of the group campsite requires a minimum of 14 people. The maximum group size is 30 people. The maximum length of stay is seven days. All tents must be placed on one of the seven tent pads at the site. All food, garbage, and scented items must be stored in the metal food lockers provided. All garbage must be packed out. Group leaders must check-in and obtain an overnight permit IN PERSON at the visitor center before traveling to the campsite. Check-in time is 2:00pm. If you do not arrive by 2:00pm on the day your reservation begins and have not notified park staff of your late arrival, your entire reservation will be cancelled. For delayed arrivals, call the Rainy Lake Visitor Center before 2:00pm at 218-286-5258.
