About the Campground
Van Pugh South Campground is located on Lake Sidney Lanier. Lake Lanier touches five counties in Georgia and is just 45 minutes from Atlanta. The lake covers 38,000 acres that were once rolling farmland. The lake provides outdoor recreational opportunities to fish, camp, boat, picnic or sightsee. Van Pugh South Campground offers 55 sites in an all natural setting. Additional amenities include hot showers, laundry facilities, a boat ramp,and a dump station.

Alerts and Important Information
Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance.
RESERVATIONS HAVE A 2 NIGHT MINIMUM ON WEEKENDS AND 3 NIGHT MINIMUM ON HOLIDAY WEEKENDS.
The campground is open April - September and sites range from $19 - $27 dollars.
Primary occupants must occupy campsites overnight. Renting a site for the purpose of day use or parking is prohibited.
8 person maximum per site including visitors.
1-3 vehicles per site with 3 vehicles maximum within campground including visitors.
Attendants are scheduled 7:00am-10:30pm and the campground telephone number is (770) 967-6315.
Check-in time is 4pm and checkout time is 3pm. Park gates are locked from 10:30pm until 7am.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited at all corps parks on Lake Lanier.
Due to road conditions in the campground, no campers with recreational vehicles over 26 feet in length will be permitted to rent a site in this campground.

The RV campsites are small and unlevel. It looks like they used to be tent sites that were converted to RV. River access and view bad because the underbrush and small trees are not kept under control. Also, the camp host is extremely rude and came to our site three times in two days. She called the park ranger out several times on different people. We will not go back.
