About the Campground

The beautiful wooded area of Forkland Campground is located on Demopolis Lake, the largest lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee waterway. Demopolis Lake offers 10,000 acres to explore, equipped with two campgrounds, day-use facilities, primitive camping, and a full service marina and restaurant. The physical location of the campground offers a quiet and convenient retreat from the two larger cities; Demopolis and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Travel 9 miles north of Demopolis or 50 miles south of Tuscaloosa and it is there that you will find Forkland Campground. Recreation: Day-use visitors and campers alike can also enjoy a boat ramp and hiking trail; both of which are located across from the gatehouse. Facilities: The campground is equipped with 42 sites that offer 30 and 50-amp electricity and water hook-ups. New playground equipment has just been installed and a dump station, laundry facility, and restroom with temperature control are also provided within the campground. NOTE: Sites 1-32 have been upgraded to 50-amp service. Sites 33-42 are only equipped with 30-amp service.

Alerts and Important Information The Forkland Park closure will continue to be closed for renovations until 20 June 2010, however, this closure may end earlier. Please call the Demopolis Site Office at 334-289-3540 for park closure information and check www.recreation.gov for periodic updates. Hours of Operation: 6:00 am - 10:00 pm Phone Information: (334) 289-5530 Reservation Information: -Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. -This park requires a 2 night minimum stay on weekends. -This park requires a 3 night minimum stay on holiday weekends. -Check-out time is 3:00 pm. Check-in time is 4:00 pm. -Campers will not be allowed to stay beyond the 14-day period on any site within the park without obtaining a Camper Extension For, which can be retrieved at the campground gatehouse. Extensions during peak seasons will may only be granted for a maximum of (7) days for the following reasons: 1) Urgent medical needs of the campers or family members 2) Imminent severe weather 3) Vehicle failure 4) Low or anticipated low visitation Campground Information: -Attendants are on duty. -ATV's and ORV's are not allowed to be driven in the park. -Electric and gas scooters are not allowed in the park unless they have been authorized by the Demopolis Site Office. Please call (334) 289-3540 for authorization. If authorized, scooters will only be utilized for transportation to and from bath houses, not to tour the park. -Due to park restrictions, campers are limited to 2 vehicles per site. Any additional vehicles will be charged an extra vehicle fee, which will be collected at the park. -Eight person maximum per site for overnight stay; A maximum of four visitors are allowed per site and will be charged a visitors fee upon arrival. -Pets are not allowed in the restrooms and must be kept on a six-foot leash. -Please be sure to completely extinguish fires and deposit all garbage in park dumpsters. **Beginning January 2009, the campground will no longer distribute garbage bags to campers** Forkland Campground is pleased to announce that a hiking trail has been constructed for the use of campers and day-use visitors alike. The use of the trail is free of charge and we encourage visitors to come out and explore our newest addition to the park. The trail is approximately 1.2 miles long with moderate difficulty due to steep surfaces and minor hills. Please come out and enjoy the beautiful trail that is nestled in the woods with overlooks of McConnico Creek or the Black Warrior River.
