About the Campground

The Upper Twilight Group Site lies within the Ponderosa pine area of the Pinaleno Mountains. The site lies along Arizona State Highway 366 (Swift Trail) at an elevation of 7,400 feet. This group site provides an excellent escape from the summer desert heat, and opportunities to recreate in this mountain range are plentiful. Popular recreation activities experienced at this site include hiking, camping, wildlife viewing, and picnicking. The Mount Graham Wilderness Study Area is located nearby. Facilities at the Upper Twilight Group Site include vault toilets, information board, parking areas, and a group fire grill. Firewood may be collected in and around the group site. No water is available at Upper Twilight. Please bring your own drinking water. The maximum number of people to occupy this group site is 50 and the maximum number of vehicles is 6. The group site's open season is from April 15th through November 14th on a yearly basis, unless weather or fire conditions permits. Alerts and Important Information "There are currently no camping fees charged for this facility, only a Reservation Service Fee is charged (which is non-refundable). Customers are permitted to cancel without incurring any additional charges." Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. The total vehicle length should be less than 40 feet. Highway 366 is steep with a high number of switchbacks and a one-lane curved bridge at Wet Canyon. Pack-It-In, Pack-It-Out site. No trash cans are available. Please plan to remove trash from the Forest prior to leaving the group site. Be Bear Aware. Make sure all food and trash is secured during the stay. No RV hook-ups. Pets must be on a leash. No drinking water. Please bring your own drinking water. Only downed trees and shrubs may be collected as firewood. Tree cutting is prohibited in the National Forest. Quiet hours are between 10pm and 6am. The nearest medical facilities and additional supplies are located in Safford. Be sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving. DO NOT LEAVE FIRES UNATTENDED. You are responsible for keeping fires under control. 14-day stay limit. Check-in 2 pm Check-out noon
